UK ETA: From 25 February 2026 the UK requires an Electronic Travel Authorisation for visitors from 85 countries, with airlines instructed to deny boarding to non-compliant passengers.

The rollout of the EES has introduced biometric checks at Schengen borders, meaning U.S. travellers now face automated fingerprinting and facial scans when entering France and Spain.

ACI EUROPE, A4E and IATA warn that EES delays risk causing long queues of up to four hours during the summer peak if staffing, technology and pre-registration issues are not resolved.

ABTA has urged coordinated action on the EES rollout after members reported inconsistent use of contingency measures and ongoing border delays.
