Venezuela's document authentication system has undergone significant modernization through the Servicio Autónomo de Registros y Notarías (SAREN) and the Sistema de Legalización y Apostilla Electrónica (SLAE). SAREN administers all of Venezuela's notarial and registry offices, integrating biometric identification — including fingerprint verification through interconnection with SAIME's national identification database — alongside photographic records and electronic signatures for all registered documents.
Venezuela's electronic apostille (e-Apostille) system is one of the most advanced in Latin America. Documents authenticated through SAREN can be apostilled digitally through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, producing an electronic certificate containing a digital seal, electronic signature, and verification code. The electronic apostille is delivered as a PDF via email and can be verified online, with the digital file serving as full legal proof without requiring a physical print or wet seal. This system makes Venezuela one of a small number of countries offering fully digital document authentication for international use.
For certain document types — such as certificates of criminal records and driver's license certifications — the electronic apostille can be processed without a prior appointment, with delivery within 10 business days. DoVisa coordinates the SAREN legalization and apostille process on your behalf, ensuring your Venezuelan documents carry the correct authentication for acceptance in any of the 129+ Hague Convention member states.
