How Kosovo Certified Translation Works
Submit Your Documents Securely
Upload clear scans of your Kosovo documents — certifikate lindjeje, certifikate martese, academic diplomas, or civil registry extracts — through our encrypted portal. We accept PDF, JPEG, and PNG. Our intake specialists review each upload for legibility and completeness before assigning a translator.
Translator Assignment
Your documents are matched with a certified translator specialising in Albanian-English or Serbian-English language pairs. Our translators have expertise in Kosovo civil registration document formats, legal terminology from the Civil Registration Agency, and the bilingual structure issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Translation & Certification
The translator produces your certified translation and affixes their signed certification statement attesting to the accuracy and completeness of the translation. Kosovo documents may appear in Albanian, Serbian, or both — our translators handle Latin and Cyrillic script with equal proficiency, rendering every seal, stamp, and registration number faithfully.
Delivery with Full Certification
Receive your certified translation as a high-resolution PDF by email, with the original shipped via tracked courier if required. For apostille add-on orders, we coordinate with Kosovo's Civil Registration Agency or the Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, depending on document type.

Common Scenarios for Kosovo Document Translation
Immigration & Visa Applications
Kosovo nationals form one of Europe's most mobile diaspora communities, with large populations in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the UK, and Scandinavia. Our certified translations of Kosovo civil registry documents — certifikate lindjeje, certifikate martese, and certifikate shtetesie — are accepted by USCIS, IRCC, UK Visas and Immigration, and European immigration authorities for family reunification, work permit, and settlement visa applications.
Academic Credential Evaluation
Kosovo graduates seeking recognition of their diplome universitare and transkript notash abroad require certified translations for evaluation by agencies such as WES (Canada), ICES, and UK ENIC. Our translators are familiar with Kosovo's higher education institutions and the grading conventions used in both Albanian and Serbian-medium institutions.
Marriage & Family Documentation
International marriages involving Kosovo nationals require certified translations of certifikate martese, certifikate lindjeje, and vertetim banimi. Whether registering a marriage abroad, processing a family reunification visa, or proving civil status to a foreign authority, our certified translations faithfully reproduce Kosovo's bilingual civil registry document format.
Business & Corporate Documents
Kosovo's growing economy and EU integration aspirations drive cross-border business activity. Certified translations of commercial contracts, court certificates, business registration documents, and employment agreements are essential for companies operating across Kosovo and EU markets. Our translators handle Albanian and Serbian business and legal terminology with precision.
Legal Proceedings & Court Documents
Legal matters involving Kosovo nationals abroad — including inheritance cases, property disputes, and criminal record verification — require certified translations of court orders, vertetim nga gjykata (court clearances), and notarial deeds. Our translations meet the evidentiary standards of courts in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia.
Understanding Kosovo's Bilingual Civil Registration System
Kosovo's civil registration system is administered by the Civil Registration Agency (CRA) under the Ministry of Internal Affairs. All vital records — births, marriages, deaths, and citizenship — are issued in three languages: Albanian, Serbian, and English. This trilingual format reflects Kosovo's constitutional bilingualism, with Albanian and Serbian both holding official language status under the Law on the Use of Languages (Law No. 02/L-37).
A Certifikate Lindjeje (birth certificate) in Kosovo contains the individual's full name, date and place of birth, parents' names, and the civil registry registration number. The document is issued on standardised security paper bearing the seal of the Civil Registration Agency. Marriage certificates (Certifikate Martese) contain both parties' personal data, the date and place of marriage, and witnesses' information — recorded in parallel Albanian and Serbian text.
For certified translation, every field must be rendered accurately: official seals, stamps, registration numbers, and the bilingual structure of the source document. DoVisa's translators are specifically trained on Kosovo civil registry document formats to ensure complete and accurate certified translations accepted by foreign immigration authorities, universities, and courts worldwide.

Kosovo's Apostille Membership and Document Authentication
Kosovo acceded to the Hague Apostille Convention (Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents) by depositing its instrument of accession on 6 November 2015, with the Convention entering into force for Kosovo in 2016. Kosovo is part of the HCCH framework, with two designated competent authorities for issuing apostilles.
The Civil Registration Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs handles apostilles for civil status documents — birth, marriage, and death certificates. The Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs handles apostilles for all other official documents, including court orders, academic diplomas, and notarial acts.
A significant practical consideration: several Hague Convention member states — including Germany, Austria, Spain, Romania, Serbia, and others — raised formal objections to Kosovo's accession under Article 12 of the Convention. The apostille is therefore not recognised between Kosovo and those objecting states. For documents destined for those countries, consular legalization remains necessary. DoVisa evaluates the destination country and advises on the correct authentication path — apostille or consular legalization — before proceeding with any order.

Kosovo apostilles are issued by the Civil Registration Agency or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs depending on document type
Kosovo's Diaspora and Global Translation Demand
Kosovo has one of Europe's highest diaspora-to-population ratios. An estimated 800,000 to 1 million Kosovo Albanians live abroad — primarily in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the United Kingdom, Sweden, and the United States. This diaspora creates sustained demand for certified translations of Kosovo documents: family reunification visa applications, nationality registration in host countries, academic credential recognition, property inheritance, and pension claims.
For Kosovo nationals in German-speaking countries, certified translations of Certifikate Lindjeje and Diplome universitare are routinely required by immigration offices, civil registry offices for marriage registration, and universities for admission. Germany is among the countries that objected to Kosovo's apostille accession, meaning the standard consular legalization path applies for those documents. DoVisa's Albanian-to-German and Serbian-to-German language pairs directly serve this high-demand corridor.
For the UK diaspora — with established communities in London, Birmingham, and Sheffield — UK Visas and Immigration requires certified translations of all Kosovo documents not in English. Our certified translations of Kosovo civil registry documents are fully compliant with UKVI requirements and are accepted for family visas, indefinite leave to remain applications, and British citizenship naturalisation.

Kosovo's large diaspora in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and the UK drives sustained demand for certified Albanian and Serbian document translations
