Virginia fall travel planning has a new state-backed microsite featuring foliage information, scenic routes, itineraries and seasonal experiences across the Commonwealth.
Virginia Tourism Corporation has introduced a fall travel microsite to help visitors plan autumn trips across the Commonwealth, combining foliage guidance with curated ideas for outdoor activities, scenic drives, wineries, family attractions and state park visits.
New resource focuses on autumn travel across Virginia
Virginia Tourism Corporation has launched a dedicated fall travel microsite aimed at helping visitors plan seasonal trips throughout the Commonwealth. The platform brings together foliage information, suggested itineraries, scenic driving routes and autumn experiences in one planning resource.
The initiative, based in Richmond, was created in collaboration with the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, the Virginia Department of Forestry and the U.S. Forest Service. It is being presented under the seasonal theme “Find Your Fall in Virginia.”
The microsite is designed to look beyond leaf-peeping alone. It highlights hiking trails, scenic drives, wineries, family-friendly attractions and other fall activities available in different parts of Virginia.

Foliage maps and regional routes support trip planning
The interactive resource includes regional travel ideas, curated itineraries, scenic routes for drivers and peak foliage maps. These tools are intended to help travellers match their plans with autumn conditions across the state, where colour changes vary by region and landscape.

Forest agencies to provide foliage reports
The Virginia Department of Forestry and the U.S. Forest Service will supply foliage reports as well as information about the Commonwealth’s forests and public lands. Their contributions are intended to help residents and visitors identify when autumn colours are likely to reach their peak.
