Latvia COVID Pass
Submit your Latvia COVID Pass online via covidpass.lv before arrival — government-accepted confirmation processed quickly with guided help.
What Is the Latvia COVID Pass?
The Latvia COVID Pass is the official arrival confirmation submitted through the national covidpass.lv system. Introduced during the pandemic as an electronic arrival questionnaire and updated in subsequent years, the pass collects your health status, recent test or recovery details, and travel information for verification by the State Border Guard and other authorities.
The questionnaire is maintained by the Ministry of the Interior and related agencies — you can complete it at covidpass.lv or use DoVisa for guided completion and checks. After successful submission you receive an electronic confirmation (save or screenshot it) which may show a QR or confirmation reference; carriers and border officials may ask to see this at departure and arrival.
The pass complements standard entry checks (passport, visa/Schengen rules, accommodation, insurance) but it is not a visa or travel permit — it is a public-health arrival confirmation that helps the Border Guard enforce testing/self-isolation rules. Key policy updates: from 1 September 2025 Latvia's entry procedures require registration at least 48 hours before arrival for persons who must register, while covidpass.lv continues to be the platform used for arrival confirmation and test-result reporting.
Plan ahead: review Latvia visa information for entry rules and the official portal at covidpass.lv for full instructions. When you're ready, Apply for your Latvia COVID Pass now.

Latvia Entry Requirements & Restrictions
Passport & Schengen Rules
Follow Schengen entry rules: passport expiry must be at least 3 months after your planned exit from the Schengen area and date of issue should be within 10 years. Border officers may request onward tickets and accommodation confirmation.
Vaccinations & Health Advice
No routine vaccines are strictly required for Latvia, but authorities and the CDC recommend being up to date on routine vaccines and consider Hepatitis A for some travellers. See the CDC Latvia page for current health guidance.
Covid testing & reporting
If required, present a negative test or recovery certificate as instructed — test results and related details must be entered in the covidpass.lv questionnaire and may be checked by the State Border Guard or police.
Customs & Prohibited Items
Latvia enforces EU rules: certain foodstuffs of animal origin are prohibited and some agricultural products are restricted. Declare cash of 10,000 euros or more on arrival. See State Revenue (VID) guidance for full lists.
Travel Insurance
Travel insurance with medical and repatriation cover is commonly requested at border checks — carriers and border guards may ask for proof of sufficient insurance for the duration of your stay.
Travel Tips for Latvia Visitors
Latvia sits on the eastern shores of the Baltic Sea; most international flights use Riga International Airport (RIX). Plan transfers and allow time for border checks and any required health registration.
- Best time to visit: May–September for mild weather and festivals; winter offers snowy landscapes but shorter daylight.
- Currency: Euro (EUR). Some tourist businesses accept USD but pay in EUR where possible; ATMs widely available.
- Language: Latvian is the official language; English is widely spoken in cities and tourism services.
- Time zone: Eastern European Time — GMT+2 (winter), GMT+3 in summer (DST).
- Airport transfers: Riga (RIX) is the main hub — taxis, buses and train links serve the city; check covidpass.lv status before departure to avoid boarding issues.
- Safety: Take usual precautions in Riga Old Town — watch for pickpockets in crowded areas and validate public-transport tickets to avoid fines.
- Customs tip: Do not carry undeclared meat/dairy products; if carrying large sums declare cash above 10,000 euros.
- Keep confirmations handy: Save your covidpass confirmation and any test or vaccination certificates offline — border checks may involve manual verification.
