What Oman may ask for

Not every traveller is asked for all of these. A valid passport is checked every time; the rest is a spot check at the border, and some items belong to a visa application rather than the crossing itself.

Import permit for traveling with pets (dogs and cats)

Travelers need a prior veterinary permit from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries Wealth & Water Resources before bringing cats or dogs into Oman. Pets must be over 4 months old and have an electronic microchip, a complete immunisation record (with a photo of the pet), and a valid rabies antibody blood test from an accredited laboratory. Airlines have their own policies and requirements for transporting pets (dogs and cats). Check with your airline to determine airline-specific requirements, and the government source for more details.

    • Pets must be immunised against rabies after 12 weeks of age; the blood sample must be drawn 21–30 days after the last rabies immunisation, with test results between 3 and 12 months old at the time of export. Oman prohibits the import of certain breeds and their mixes.
