Taiwan Health Declaration
Submit your Taiwan Health Declaration (TWAC) online within 3 days before arrival — confirmation by email and faster immigration clearance.
What Is the Taiwan Health Declaration?
The Taiwan Health Declaration is Taiwan’s digital pre-arrival health and arrival card (commonly referred to as TWAC) that travellers must complete before clearing immigration. Introduced nationally from October 1, 2025, TWAC replaced the old paper arrival card to speed up passport-control and quarantine screening. The system is administered by the National Immigration Agency (NIA) and the online portal supports passport auto-fill, group submissions and multi-language guidance.
Apply via the official TWAC portal at twac.immigration.gov.tw or use DoVisa for guided completion, document checks, and email reminders. After you submit the form you receive an automatic confirmation email; the system also generates a digital record (and QR codes are used by airlines and ports) so immigration officers can retrieve your data when your passport is scanned at arrival. Airlines and shipping lines have been supplied with TWAC QR codes at check-in counters for convenience.
The TWAC is a pre-arrival health and arrival registration — it is not a visa and does not replace any visa requirement or entry permit. It gathers contact, flight, accommodation and health information to help immigration and public-health screening; travellers who need visas (or who require other permits) must still obtain those separately. The new online requirement took effect to reduce queues and consolidate health questions previously collected on paper.
Key facts: complete the declaration online within 3 days before arrival, keep the confirmation email, and ensure your passport details match. See broader Taiwan visa information and the official TWAC portal at twac.immigration.gov.tw. When ready, Apply for your Taiwan Health Declaration now.

Taiwan Entry Requirements & Restrictions
Passport Validity
Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months beyond your expected date of departure. Officials may also require a blank page for entry/exit stamps. See the U.S. State Department guidance.
Vaccination & Health Screening
No routine vaccinations are required for short visits. The Taiwan CDC recommends Hepatitis A vaccination for travel to some areas. You may be subject to non-invasive temperature checks; symptomatic travellers may be referred for further evaluation. See Taiwan CDC.
Customs, Currency & Prohibited Items
Declare cash over 100,000 NTD or foreign currency exceeding 10,000 USD. Taiwan customs restrict certain agricultural products, live animals, medicines requiring permits, weapons, and controlled substances — follow Taipei Customs guidance and use the Red Channel if you must declare. See Taipei Customs.
Prescription Medication & Medical Documents
Bring prescription medicine in original packaging and carry a copy of your prescription or doctor’s letter when possible. Some medications may require prior approval from Taiwanese authorities — check customs and CDC pages before travel.
Travel Insurance & Medical Care
Travel insurance is strongly recommended. Medical facilities are excellent in major cities but care on remote islands may be limited; evacuation could be necessary for serious conditions.
Travel Tips for Taiwan Visitors
Taiwan is an island of mountains, night markets and dynamic cities. The main international airports are Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE), Taipei Songshan Airport (TSA) and Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH); Taichung International Airport also handles international services. Major seaports and ferry terminals accept international arrivals and TWAC data is retrievable at sea ports.
- Best time to visit: Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) for mild weather; typhoon season runs June–September.
- Currency: New Taiwan Dollar (TWD). Credit cards are widely accepted in cities — carry some TWD for markets and small vendors; declare cash over 100,000 NTD.
- Language: Mandarin Chinese is the official language; English is commonly understood in airports, hotels and major tourist areas.
- Time zone: Taiwan Standard Time is GMT+8.
- Transport: High-speed rail and efficient domestic flights connect major regions — plan transfers in advance.
- Customs: Avoid bringing prohibited agricultural or veterinary items; medicines should have prescriptions.
- Safety: Taiwan is generally safe but watch for typhoon/earthquake alerts and follow local advice.
- Save your TWAC confirmation: Keep the confirmation email accessible — airlines and immigration can retrieve or scan TWAC data when you arrive.
