Malta Travel Declaration Form
Submit your Malta Travel Declaration Form online before arrival — accepted electronically and usually processed within 24 hours with guided support.
What Is the Malta Travel Declaration Form?
The Malta Travel Declaration Form is an online pre-arrival public-health and passenger locator declaration used to collect basic contact, accommodation and travel details from inbound travellers to Malta. The digital Passenger Locator / Public Health Travel Declaration (often called the dPLF or PLF) is requested by Maltese authorities to support public‑health tracing and to confirm accommodation and contact details prior to arrival.
You can submit the declaration via the airport’s official forms page (maltairport.com/declarationforms) or through authorised facilitation services like DoVisa for guided completion. Upon successful submission you receive an electronic confirmation — typically an email with a PDF summary or a confirmation number — which you should save and present to your carrier or local health authorities if requested. Processing times vary by channel and season; allow at least 24 hours for review if you apply close to departure.
The declaration is a pre-arrival information record and does not replace a visa or residence permit for stays requiring prior authorisation. It is separate from Schengen visa rules and is used alongside passport checks and any visa or permit you may need. The form helps the Maltese public-health authorities and border services manage arrivals and trace contacts if required.

Malta Entry Requirements & Restrictions
Passport Validity
For short stays follow Schengen rules: your passport should be valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned date of departure from the Schengen area and generally should not be older than ten years at date of issue. See the Maltese guidance on entry rules.
Vaccination & Health
A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required only if you arrive from a country with yellow fever transmission risk. Routine vaccinations (MMR, hepatitis A) are recommended per the CDC Malta travel page.
Customs & Prohibited Items
Personal imports are subject to EU and Maltese rules. Meat, milk and certain animal products are restricted; smokeless tobacco and some flavoured tobacco products are controlled. Declare cash of 10,000 euros or more on arrival. See Malta Customs for full lists.
Restricted Imports (Cultural Goods & Drones)
New import controls on certain cultural goods came into effect on 28 June 2025. Drones and specialised equipment may require permits — check the Maltese cultural goods and transport authorities before travel.
Travel Insurance & Practical Advice
Travel insurance is strongly recommended. Medical facilities are available in Malta but specialised treatment may require transfer to larger centres; ensure your policy covers medical evacuation where necessary.
Travel Tips for Malta Visitors
Malta is a compact Mediterranean archipelago with a rich history, popular beaches and UNESCO-listed Valletta. Most international flights arrive at Malta International Airport (MLA) near Luqa. Ferries operate between Malta and Gozo for regional travel.
- Currency: Euro (EUR). Small vendors may accept USD or card payments in tourist areas, but carry euros for local purchases.
- Language: Maltese and English are official languages; English is widely spoken throughout the islands.
- Time zone: Central European Time (CET, GMT+1); daylight saving (CEST, GMT+2) applies in summer.
- Best time to visit: April–October for warm sea swimming; shoulder seasons offer fewer crowds.
- Transport: Taxis, buses and rental cars are common; follow local rules — Malta drives on the left.
- Cultural tip: Dress modestly in churches and religious sites; coastal bars and Paceville nightlife are relaxed but be mindful of local customs.
- Airport transfers: Book hotel transfer or check the airport shuttle to Valletta in advance; ferries to Gozo have scheduled departures.
- Keep documents handy: Save your declaration confirmation and booking details offline — border or airline staff may ask for them during check‑in or on arrival.
