Guatemala Traveler Declaration (DJRV)

Yes. Since July 2023, the Declaración Jurada Regional de Viajero has been mandatory for air travelers both entering and leaving Guatemala. It applies to Guatemalan nationals and foreign visitors equally, with no exemption for short stays. Minors can be covered by a parent's declaration, but everyone else needs one.

Yes on both counts, and we want to be completely clear about it. The DJRV is free of charge and always has been. SAT describes the process as "totalmente gratuito" — it runs 100% online, is available 24 hours a day at portal.sat.gob.gt, and there is also an official SAT app for Android and iOS. You can absolutely complete it yourself in a few minutes at no cost, and many travelers do. SAT and INGUAT have publicly warned about websites that charge for this declaration while pretending to be official — so be suspicious of anyone who is vague about what their fee is for. DoVisa is not the government and does not pretend to be: our charge is a service fee for verifying your passport and booklet numbers against the format SAT's system accepts, completing and submitting the declaration, and delivering the QR code and declaration number to you. If you would rather not pay for that, use the official portal directly — that is a perfectly good decision and we would rather tell you so up front. Check the exact fee when you start your application.

Up to three days before your flight, and no earlier. The declaration is valid for three days from the moment you complete it, which is why the window and the validity are the same length. It is tied to a specific flight in a specific direction.

Yes. Entry and exit are two separate declarations. A round trip therefore means two filings — there is no combined round-trip declaration. Order both directions with us at the same time and we handle the timing of each.

Partly. SAT confirms that one adult can include a spouse and minor children in the same declaration. Adult children and any other adults in the group each need their own. So two parents traveling with young kids need two declarations per direction — not one, and not four. When you bundle a spouse and minors with us, they are included in that direction's filing at no extra charge.

No. A submitted DJRV cannot be modified — SAT offers no correction or edit function. The remedy is to submit a fresh, correct declaration for the same flight and present that QR code at customs. The same applies if your flight is moved to a different date: file again with the new details. If you spot an error in a declaration we filed for you, tell us and we will refile it.

No, it is not a visa and it does not authorize entry. It is a customs and traveler declaration that sits alongside whatever immigration permission you need. Many nationalities enter Guatemala visa-free under the CA-4 arrangement; others need a visa arranged in advance. Check your own position before you book.

You are paying for assistance, not for the declaration — the government form is free. Our per-direction service fee covers checking your details against the 15-digit passport number and separate booklet number format, completing and submitting the declaration through the official SAT channel, and delivering your QR code and declaration number by email, plus a free refile if we get something wrong. If you change your mind before we submit your declaration, we will refund you.
