Czech Republic Schengen Visa
Apply for your Czech Republic Schengen Visa online with expert guidance and a clear consular checklist — prepared for embassy submission.
What Is the Czech Republic Schengen Visa?
The Czech Republic Schengen Visa is the standard short-stay Schengen visa that allows third‑country nationals to enter the Czech Republic and other Schengen states for tourism, business, family visits, short studies or cultural events for up to 90 days in any 180‑day period. The document is issued by Czech diplomatic missions and visa centres and follows the EU Schengen short‑stay rules administered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of the Interior.
Applications are submitted in person at a Czech embassy, consulate or an authorised application centre (some countries use external service providers for bookings and biometric enrolment). Supporting documents include a completed application form, travel itinerary, proof of accommodation, travel insurance and evidence of sufficient funds; biometric data (fingerprints and a photo) are collected at the appointment. For official guidance see the Czech MFA visa pages and the IPC foreigner information portal such as mzv.gov.cz.
The Czech Republic Schengen Visa is a visa sticker/entry permit — not an online travel authorization — and it must be affixed to your travel document before you travel. Approval results in a visa vignette placed into your passport and not an emailed QR code. Processing times and exact documentary requirements vary by nationality and the mission where you apply; DoVisa provides application guidance, checklist review and booking help to prepare your consular appointment.
For full Czech entry rules see Czech Republic visa information and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs site. When you're ready, Apply now for help preparing your application and consular appointment.

Czech Republic Entry Requirements & Restrictions
Passport Validity
Your travel document must be issued within the last 10 years (date of issue rule) and have an expiry date at least 3 months after your planned departure from the Schengen Area. Follow GOV.UK guidance for exact wording and exceptions: Entry requirements — GOV.UK.
Vaccination & Health Advice
No routine vaccinations are required for entry. Travelers should be up to date on routine immunizations; the CDC recommends hepatitis A, influenza and MMR as relevant. Check the CDC country page: CDC — Czechia.
Customs & Prohibited Items
EU/Czech rules restrict import of certain foodstuffs (meat, dairy), weapons, narcotics, endangered species products (CITES) and other controlled goods. Declare cash or negotiable instruments if equal to or above 10,000 euros. See Czech Customs guidance for details.
Biometrics & Consular Appointment
Short‑stay visa applicants must attend a biometric appointment to submit fingerprints and a photograph unless exempt. The visa vignette is affixed to your passport following approval and must be presented on arrival.
Travel Insurance & Funds
A Schengen travel insurance policy covering medical emergencies and repatriation is required for visa applications. You must also show accommodation bookings and proof of sufficient funds for your stay when applying and at border control.
Travel Tips for Czech Republic Visitors
Czechia is a Central European country with historic cities, regional airports and well‑connected rail services. The main international gateway is Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG), with other international airports at Brno–Tuřany (BRQ), Ostrava (OSR), Karlovy Vary (KLV) and Pardubice (PED). Plan transport and arrive early for biometric checks during busy periods.
- Currency: Czech koruna (CZK). Euros and USD may be accepted by some hotels and tourist businesses, but CZK is standard—ATMs and card payments are widely available.
- Language: Czech is the official language. English is commonly spoken in Prague and tourist areas; learn a few Czech phrases to be polite.
- Time zone: Central European Time (CET, GMT+1) and Central European Summer Time (CEST, GMT+2) in summer months.
- Best time to visit: Late spring to early autumn (May–September) for warmer weather and festivals; winter offers markets and Christmas events but colder temperatures.
- Transport: Prague has an efficient public transport network—trains and buses connect regional airports to city centres; reserve onward tickets in advance for popular routes.
- Currency declaration: If carrying €10,000 or more in cash, declare it on arrival to avoid penalties.
- Local laws: Respect local regulations on photography in restricted sites and customs rules for foodstuffs and plants.
- Consular appointments: Book your visa appointment early — slots at embassies and centres can fill quickly during peak travel season.
