What Is the Chile Unique Entry Form?

The Chile Unique Entry Form (commonly referred to by its Spanish acronym FUI) is the mandatory online entry registration required for most visitors traveling to Rapa Nui (Easter Island). The Chilean Interior Ministry rolled out the online system to protect the island’s fragile environment and improve immigration checks; it replaced paper-only local submissions and onsite-only declarations for non-residents. The official form is hosted by the Rapa Nui entry portal and collects arrival information, accommodation details and proof of return travel.

Apply online via the official portal at ingresorapanui.interior.gob.cl or use DoVisa for guided completion and document checks. Upon approval you receive an electronic confirmation you can print or save — many travelers are asked to show the confirmation and reservation at the PDI (Policía de Investigaciones) counter before boarding or on arrival. Expect to provide your passport data, SERNATUR-registered accommodation booking details, and your return ticket when requested.

The Chile Unique Entry Form does not replace your immigration stamp or any visa required by your nationality — it is a trip-specific entry authorization for Rapa Nui that must be presented alongside travel documents. Recent policy updates make the FUI mandatory for most tourists and guests; failure to complete the online process and present required evidence at boarding or at the PDI counter can prevent travel to the island. Residents registered with CONADI are handled under a different process.

For full Chile entry rules see Chile visa information and the official Rapa Nui portal at ingresorapanui.interior.gob.cl. Apply for your Chile Unique Entry Form now.

Chile Entry Requirements & Restrictions

Passport Validity

Your passport must be valid for the duration of your stay in Chile and have at least one blank page for the immigration entry stamp. See the U.S. Embassy guidance at cl.usembassy.gov.

Vaccination & Health Advice

No vaccinations are currently required for entry to Chile, but routine vaccines and Hepatitis A are recommended. Check the CDC country page for the latest health guidance: CDC — Chile.

Customs & Prohibited Items

Declare agricultural goods and items subject to duty. Chile restricts or prohibits firearms, ammunition, explosives and certain agricultural products and chemicals. Review import rules at the official customs and trade guidance: trade.gov — Chile imports.

Proof of Funds & Accommodation

Visitors should be ready to show proof of sufficient funds and a return/onward ticket; official guidance references roughly USD 46 per day as the minimum standard used by authorities for tourists. For Rapa Nui you must also present a SERNATUR-registered accommodation booking or an invitation code at PDI.

Rapa Nui (Easter Island) Specific Rules

The FUI must be submitted online from up to 21 days before arrival until boarding time. Tourists may only stay at SERNATUR-accredited accommodations and the island’s maximum tourist stay is 30 days. See the official Rapa Nui page: gob.cl — Rapa Nui entry.

Travel Tips for Chile Visitors

Chile combines long Pacific coastline, Andean highlands and remote Rapa Nui. Most international flights land in Santiago before domestic connections to other regions or to Easter Island.

  • Currency: Chilean Peso (CLP) is the local currency; carry CLP for small purchases — US dollars (USD) may be accepted in some tourist businesses but CLP is standard.
  • Language: Spanish is the official language; English is commonly spoken in hotels and tourist services on Rapa Nui and in major cities.
  • Time zone: Mainland Chile typically observes GMT-3 (UTC−3); time zones vary in overseas territories—check local schedules before travel.
  • Main international airport: Comodoro Arturo Merino Benítez (SCL) in Santiago — connect there for domestic flights to the regions and to Rapa Nui.
  • Rapa Nui transfers: Flights to Easter Island often depart from Santiago — book well in advance and ensure your SERNATUR-accredited hotel is confirmed for the FUI.
  • Safety: Demonstrations can affect transportation in Santiago and other cities — monitor local advisories and avoid demonstrations.
  • Customs: Declare agricultural items and follow strict rules on food and plant products — confiscations and fines apply.
  • Documentation: Save a copy of your FUI confirmation and accommodation booking offline; you may need to present printed documents at the PDI counter before boarding.
