What Is the Barbados ED Card?

The Barbados ED Card is the island’s official online Immigration & Customs submission required of most international arrivals. Launched as a digital replacement for paper disembarkation cards, the system is administered through the Government of Barbados' Online Immigration & Customs Portal and managed in partnership with CARICOM IMPACS to speed processing at ports of entry.

Apply on the official portal at travelform.gov.bb or use DoVisa for guided completion, document checks and optional expedited processing. On approval you receive an email confirmation and an immigration receipt (save a PDF or screenshot). Airlines commonly verify the receipt at departure check-in and immigration officers inspect it at arrival for faster clearance.

The ED Card is a pre-arrival immigration & customs submission — it is not a visa. Most nationalities do not require a visa for short stays but must still submit the ED Card and meet entry rules (passport, return/onward ticket, proof of address or accommodation). Recent updates confirm the online form is available from 72 hours before scheduled arrival and that receipts should be saved to your mobile device or printed for presentation at Grantley Adams International Airport.

Key facts: valid up to 90 days for single entry, processed from 30 minutes with Rush/Super Rush options. See full Barbados visa information and the official portal at travelform.gov.bb. Apply for your Barbados ED Card now.

Travel Tips for Barbados Visitors

Barbados is an island nation in the eastern Caribbean with warm weather year-round. Most international flights arrive at Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI) near Bridgetown. Plan onward transfers in advance — taxis and hotel shuttles serve most resorts.

  • Best time to visit: November–April (peak season, drier weather)
  • Currency: Barbadian dollar (BBD); US dollars are widely accepted at resorts and tourist businesses
  • Language: English is the official language and is widely spoken across the island
  • Time zone: Atlantic Standard Time (GMT−4)
  • Local customs: Dress is casual at beaches; modest attire is expected in churches and government buildings
  • Water safety: Atlantic-side beaches have strong undertows — obey flags and local advice
  • Transport: Taxis do not use meters — agree fare before travel and keep small bills
  • Save your ED Card receipt: Screenshot the confirmation and PDF — airlines may check at departure and immigration will need it on arrival
