What Is the Antigua & Barbuda eVisa?

The Antigua & Barbuda eVisa (also called the Electronic Entry Visa or EEV) is the official online visa travellers submit to request entry clearance to Antigua and Barbuda. Managed by the Department of Immigration, the eVisa system replaced paper consular applications and centralised short-stay visa processing through the government’s digital portal to simplify approval and reduce time at the border.

Applications are made via the government eVisa portal (evisa.immigration.gov.ag) or through authorised agents like DoVisa for guided completion. On approval you receive an electronic travel letter / eVisa approval by email — save the PDF or screenshot. The approval letter is evidence for airline check-in and is inspected by immigration officers on arrival; some nationalities will still be assessed for eligibility at the port of entry.

The eVisa is a travel authorization that functions as the country’s visa decision for short stays — it is not a residence permit. Standard applications are typically reviewed within five (5) working days, with expedited handling available when you are travelling soon. The eVisa does not replace the need to meet entry rules such as passport validity, proof of onward travel, accommodation and any health certificates required on arrival.

For full entry rules see Antigua and Barbuda visa information and the official Department of Immigration portal (immigration.gov.ag). When you’re ready, Apply now to start your Antigua & Barbuda eVisa application with guided help.

Antigua and Barbuda Entry Requirements & Restrictions

Passport Validity

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival. Have at least one blank page available for immigration stamps and carry any residency or transit permits for countries in your itinerary. See Department of Immigration — Visa Application Process.

Itinerary, Return Ticket & Funds

You must show a confirmed return or onward ticket, proof of accommodation for your stay, and evidence of sufficient funds to cover your visit. Official guidance lists bank statements and booking confirmations as common supporting docs.

Yellow Fever & Health Advice

A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required if you are arriving from or transiting through a country with risk of yellow fever transmission. Review current medical guidance on the CDC country page: CDC — Antigua and Barbuda.

Customs & Prohibited Items

Declare dutiable goods and check import rules before travel. Antigua and Barbuda Customs requires declaration of restricted items and has specific prohibitions — for example, the importation and wearing of camouflage clothing has been publicly prohibited. See Antigua & Barbuda Customs for full details.

Travel Insurance & Special Cases

Travel insurance is recommended though not mandatory for entry. Medical facilities on smaller islands are limited — travellers with planned activities or pre-existing conditions should ensure adequate coverage and evacuation plans.

Travel Tips for Antigua and Barbuda Visitors

  • Language: English is the official language and is widely spoken across the islands.
  • Time zone: Atlantic Standard Time — GMT−4 year-round.
  • Best time to visit: November to June for drier weather and calmer seas; hurricane season peaks June–November.
