Nationals of Qatar with an ePassport in compliance with ICAO standards can register their passport at the Japanese embassy in Qatar before transiting through Japan to obtain a visa waiver registration certificate. If approved, travelers will receive a visa waiver registration certificate, which allows nationals of Qatar to transit through Japan without a visa. Nationals of Qatar who do not possess an ePassport don’t need a visa to transit through Japan only if they stay within the airport transit area. Travelers who pass through immigration or passport control must obtain a transit visa. The visa is typically a stamp or sticker added to the passport.
