    Import permit for traveling with pets (dogs and cats) to Ghana

    Travelers bringing dogs or cats into Ghana are required to obtain a veterinary import permit from the Veterinary Services Department before the animal's arrival. Dogs must have negative test results for specified diseases and proof of vaccination against Canine Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Leptospirosis, Parainfluenza, and Rabies, with all vaccinations at least one month old and valid for 12 months before departure. Cats must have a health attestation report and vaccination records, including Feline Panleukopenia, Calicivirus, Rhinotracheitis, and Rabies. All animals must be accompanied by a veterinary health certificate signed by an official veterinarian from the country of origin. The turnaround time for permit issuance is 3 working days. Airlines have their own policies and requirements for transporting pets (dogs and cats).
