  Travelers who hold Chilean citizenship in addition to another nationality are required to depart Chile using their Chilean passport. Travelers who enter Chile on a foreign passport may be admitted as temporary visitors but may be required to obtain a Chilean passport before departing.

  Keep your PDI Tourism Card to avoid 19% VAT at hotels

  Travelers receive a PDI Tourism Card (Tarjeta Unica Migratoria) upon entry to Chile. This document confirms tourist status and qualifies travelers for exemption from the 19% VAT on hotel accommodations. Travelers should keep the card safe throughout their stay. Most hotels request the card at check-in to apply the VAT exemption. Without the card, hotels may charge the full 19% VAT. If the card is lost, travelers can request a duplicate online. Some hotels can assist with the replacement process or verify tourist status directly in the system.
