Finnair extends routes to Luxembourg, Valencia and Turin to year-round operations, increases winter frequencies and re-signs ground handling and fuel agreements with BGS.
Summary: Finnair will operate its new Luxembourg, Valencia and Turin services year-round, adjusts winter frequencies on several routes and has renewed a multi-station ground handling and fuel supply agreement with Baltic Ground Services (BGS).
Finnair has confirmed that routes it planned to run only in summer — to Luxembourg, Valencia and Turin — will now operate throughout the year as permanent services, and the carrier is increasing winter capacity on selected European sectors. The move forms part of a wider network update that also keeps previously announced routes to Stavanger and Umeå active in the winter timetable.
Network development and seasonality
Antti Tolvanen, Finnair’s Senior Vice President, Network and Revenue Optimisation, framed the change as part of ongoing network development and capacity adjustments to meet passenger needs.
We are constantly developing our network and increasing capacity where it best serves our customers. Year-round connections ensure that our customers can enjoy smooth and reliable travel options throughout the seasons
Route frequency changes for winter
Finnair has specified frequency adjustments for the newly permanent routes and other European services as it builds a stronger winter schedule from its Helsinki hub.
- Luxembourg: operates three times weekly in summer, increasing to four weekly services in winter.
- Valencia: maintains four weekly frequencies through the winter, unchanged from summer.
- Turin: three weekly in summer; will operate once weekly during the winter season and increase to twice weekly during the peak winter-sports period (January–March).
Stavanger and Umeå remain in the winter mix
Finnair said the Stavanger and Umeå services it previously announced will also continue year-round. Next winter the airline plans an expanded schedule to Stavanger and increased frequencies to Umeå that support regional connectivity via Helsinki and other Scandinavian gateways.
- Stavanger: nine weekly flights in winter; six outbound services from Helsinki will operate via Stockholm Arlanda, while three will fly directly to Stavanger. All returns from Stavanger to Helsinki will call in Stockholm, facilitating Stavanger–Stockholm traffic.
- Umeå: will be served with 10 weekly winter services operated via Vaasa.

BGS renews ground handling and fuel supply agreements
Baltic Ground Services (BGS) has extended its cooperation with Finnair, continuing to provide aviation fuel at Vilnius (VNO), Riga (RIX) and Tallinn (TLL) from 1 January 2026 and retaining ground handling responsibilities at Vilnius Airport as part of the renewed contracts.
Our cooperation with Finnair has developed steadily over the years, built on mutual trust and operational consistency,
Fuel supply operations for Finnair began at Vilnius in January 2017, at Tallinn in March 2024 and at Riga in October 2024. From these Baltic stations Finnair operates regular services to Helsinki, linking the capitals into its broader European and intercontinental network.
We are very satisfied with our long-term ground handling cooperation with BGS and extending our partnership into fuel supply services was a natural next step,
What this means for travellers and the industry
By converting summer-only services into year-round routes and adjusting winter frequencies, Finnair gives passengers more consistent connectivity across seasons and supports business and leisure travel demand to secondary European markets. The renewed BGS agreements reinforce reliable ground operations and fuel supply in the Baltics, which helps maintain punctuality and network resilience. For travellers, this translates into better year-round options from Helsinki to Luxembourg, Valencia, Turin and the Nordic and Baltic capitals; for the industry, stronger local partnerships help secure operational stability across the region.
