Summary: From May 1, 2026 Emirates will operate a second daily service to Tokyo Narita using a retrofitted Boeing 777-300ER (EK320/EK321), boosting connections, frequencies and in-flight offerings for passengers travelling between Japan and global markets via Dubai.

Emirates will add a second daily service to Tokyo Narita starting May 1, 2026, operating the route with a retrofitted Boeing 777-300ER. The expanded schedule aims to give passengers travelling to and from Japan greater flexibility and more seamless connections through Dubai.

New schedule and route details

The new service will operate as EK320 from Dubai, departing at 22:30 and arriving at Tokyo Narita at 13:30 the following day. The return leg, EK321, will leave Tokyo Narita at 21:30 and land in Dubai at 03:50 local time. These timings increase departure options for passengers planning trips to and from Japan.

  • EK320: Dubai 22:30 → Tokyo Narita 13:30 (next day)
  • EK321: Tokyo Narita 21:30 → Dubai 03:50 (local time)

Stopovers and multi-destination travel

The added frequency also creates more convenient stopover opportunities in Dubai, a benefit for travellers combining visits to the emirate with Japan itineraries. Emirates’ established stopover programmes make it easier to explore Dubai en route, whether for leisure or business, before continuing on to Tokyo.

Enhanced global connectivity to and from Japan

Emirates says the additional service responds to rising demand between Japan and international markets. Eastbound arrivals at Narita will see improved domestic connections, while westbound travellers from Narita will reach Dubai early in the morning, easing transfers to destinations across Emirates’ wide network in Europe, Africa and South America.

  • Europe: Spain, Portugal, France, Italy
  • Africa and Middle East: South Africa, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia
  • South America: Brazil

Upgraded in-flight product on the 777-300ER

The service will use a refurbished Boeing 777-300ER fitted with four cabin classes: 260 Economy Class seats, 24 Premium Economy seats, 40 Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 layout, and eight First Class Suites. Emirates will offer regionally inspired meals — including a Kaiseki meal tray — and more than 6,500 on-demand entertainment channels with a dedicated section for Japanese content.

Emirates’ footprint in Japan

Emirates has served Japan since 2002 and currently flies daily to three Japanese gateways: Tokyo Narita, Tokyo Haneda and Osaka. With the new Narita frequency, the carrier will operate 28 weekly flights to and from Japan from May, offering more than 22,500 seats each week and supporting a weekly cargo capacity of 1,240 tonnes.

Domestic links and premium ground services

Emirates continues to deepen domestic connectivity in Japan through partnerships with Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways (ANA). Passengers arriving at Tokyo Narita will have access to 36 onward destinations — 26 domestic points and 10 regional routes. Emirates also offers a Chauffeur-drive service for First and Business Class customers arriving in Tokyo Narita, and will extend that service to Osaka from March 1.

What this means for travellers

The extra Narita frequency improves scheduling flexibility, reduces connection times for many itineraries, and creates more stopover options in Dubai. For business travellers and tourists alike, the change provides easier access to European, African and South American destinations via Emirates’ hub and strengthens cargo links that support trade between Japan and global markets.

So what? If you’re planning travel between Japan and Europe, Africa or South America, expect more convenient connection times and additional stopover choices through Dubai starting May 1, 2026.
